These were carved during the middle ages and served various purposes. The most intriguing among Nottingham tourist attractions is the network of underground caves. The city also has interesting history besides the legends as well. Lawrence, Alan Sillitoe and Lord Byron during Nottingham travel. The city is also closely associated with two renowned writers in English literature. You will also see the castle where the Sheriff resided among things to see in Nottingham. You will see the hiding spot of Robin Hood. Many of the best places to visit in Nottingham tell you tales of Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham. The city is also closely linked to the legend of Robin Hood. Some of the most fun things to do in Nottingham include exploring the history of the city, the lace-making industry, and the tobacco industry. The city sits 180 km from London and on the banks of River Trent. If it was the summer I would say take the bus to Southwell for the minster and the Workhouse.Nottingham is a city in Nottinghamshire county in the East Midlands of England. If you are really lucky you could watch my favourite team Leicester Tigers play rugby!!! Also in Leicester is the Space Centre if that is something you are interested in but slightly more challenging to get there without a car.Īnother option is to take the train to Newark for the Civil War Museum, attractive market, and antique shopping. Unfortunately the brand new £30m visitor centre at the castle is unlikely to be open then although it is scheduled for "2020".so that will be an option for your next visit in 2021!!!Ī trip out to Lakeside ( by the University) on the tram gives an opportunity to see whatever exhibition is on in the gallery, a nice walk round the lake, and one of two cafes for either a snack or lunch.įor out of town - it has to be Leicester for me - it is an easy trip - good shopping, ethnic market and the excellent Richard the third visitor centre. That aside, a lovely, well kept course, loads of benches to sit and a very enjoyable afternoon racing experience.Īnswer: January and February.not the most exciting time to visit! Have a look at what is on at our theatres and see if anything takes your fancy. Luckily someone i was with had a card but it was embarrassing. Also, no signs on the food outlets themselves indicating that it is card only payment which caused a slight issue when i had queued up and was served. A formal complaint i am considering out of protest. Car payments only is not legal and needs addressing. Only negative was that food outlets are card only which is discriminatory against people who prefer paying by cash, people who do not have a bank account with a debit card and people who have certain impairments and who like paying by cash so that they can work out how much they have and what they have spent such as myself. Toilets good and there was a little sweets shop for the kid. On the day the meeting was not really busy which made it more enjoyable for us. Very compact and not much space to walk around in terms of land and countryside, however it is on the edges of a major city so to be expected i guess. The course itself is one of the smallest i have been too. Parking free and entrance gates to course next to car park so very short walk to get in. Easy to get to, straight off the main road and into the car park.
